The fishing community Kalvåg is situated far out with the North Sea as its neighbour in the west and Stadt to the north. In Kalvåg you can find a visitor?s quay with all service facilities. There is a cafe, restaurant, accommodation and grocery store. Trade and Industry once developed a cluster of approximately 50 seahouses round the harbour. Today, the boathouses have been restored and rented to tourists and visitors.
Kalvåg is a excellent location with good fishing grounds, one can participate in an arranged fishing trip or fish on your own. In the Liset salting house there used to be cooper?s shop, carpenter?s shop, salt herring, produce cod liver oil and a base for the fishery. Today the tools and equipment lie about giving an authentic impression that the workers are absent for a five minute break in the early post-war years. Albert Vamråk herring salting house has been restored. Guided tours and demonstrations must be arranged beforehand.
