The coast of the region of Sogn og Fjordane is ideal for cycling, with its chains of islands connected by local boat- and ferry-routes.
The small local roads along our coast are ideal for a cycling holiday, and you can arrive comfortably with the express-boat from Bergen. Especially the Islands gives you wonderful experiences, as they have very little traffic along their local roads and steep hills and mountain roads are virtually non-existent... After exploring your island, relax on the local boat as you travel to your next harbour!
GULEN IN THE SOUTH: At Eivindvik you find Gulatinget, the millenium site of Sogn og Fjordane, with fascinating, big stones sculptures and rich history. Bike rental: Eivindvik Fjordhotell.
SOLUND, VAERLANDET & BULANDET: A perfect place for bicycling. Enjoy spectacular views from roads with almost no traffic. Local boats takes you on Island Hopping between hundreds of islands. The new road between Vaerlandet and Bulandet, Nordsjoporten takes you on a joerney of 11 km of roads and 6 bridges, connecting hundreds of Islands in the middle of the ocean. If you have time we recommend a trip to Utvaer - Norways most western lighthouse. Bikerental: Vaerlandet Handel, Vaerlandet Gjestehamn and Bulandsferie. HYLLESTAD & FJALER: On the mainland we can recommend Den Trondhjemske Postveg, a route with many beautiful, old rockbridges. You must also visit Klokkargarden, the birthplace of the poet Jakob Sande, in Dale. Bikerental: contact Fjaler turistkontor.
FLORA: Further north you can visit Ausevika, one of the biggest rock carvings in north of Europe. You must also explore the small and idyllic city Floroe- Norways most western city. From Floroe you can go by local boat to the island Svanoy - also called "The pearl of Sunnfjord". Here you can visit a deerfarm at Norsk Hjortesenter. Bikerental: Svanoy Handel.
BREMANGER - At Grotle in Bremanger you can relax and enjoy one of Norways most beautiful beaches- Grotlesanden. Or maybe a nice massasje at Carolas BUASpa in the fishingvillage Kalvåg will end a perfect holiday? Bikerental at Holmen Atlier in Kalvåg.
